Sunday Worship
Traditional worship is at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday in the Sanctuary. The service is traditionally styled with hymns accompanied by piano and organ music. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome at Christ’s table. Visit HERE for more information about communion in the United Methodist Church.
Our Congregation is composed of all ages, from infants to retirees. We have many families with children and youth. Many of our worshipers are long time citizens of Mount Pleasant but many others are relatively new to our community. Dress ranges from traditional Sunday attire to Lowcountry casual. You will be welcome whether in a suit or shorts.
Entrance
You may enter the worship area through one of two double doors beneath the steeple, there you will find a Welcome Center with helpful information. Or you may enter through the covered walkway between the Chapel and the Office, which leads you to a Visitor’s Desk. Greeters will be at the doors to welcome you on behalf of the congregation, and will direct you to nurseries, Sunday School classes and the Sanctuary. Upon entering the Sanctuary, ushers will offer you worship bulletins describing the service. Please see the Hibben Campus Map page for more information.
Parking
You will find visitor and handicapped parking in front of our building in addition to the other parking areas. Ample parking is provided on the main campus of Hibben as well as at The Oops! Company in front of Hibben, the parking lot next door to Hibben. Additional spaces are available near our “pumpkin patch” and playground areas. There is a drop off circle in front of the sanctuary with handicap access as well as a covered drop off at the rear of the Education Building, which has a wheelchair lift. Directional signs are placed throughout the campus. Please see the Hibben Campus Map page for more information.
Sunday School
Sunday School for all ages is offered beginning at 9:15 a.m. There are age level classes for all children and youth as well as a variety of adult classes.
Please visit our Sunday School page to learn about the classes and get connected.
Children
Nursery: A staffed nursery is provided beginning at 9:15 a.m. every Sunday. Nurseries for children ages six weeks to pre-K is offered during service and during the Sunday School hour.
Children’s Church is for children through third grade. This time of Biblical learning and fun is offered during our 10:30 a.m. service. Children are dismissed from the Sanctuary following the Children’s Moment and can be picked up from the Chapel following service. Children return to the Sanctuary for Holy Communion on those Sundays.
All staff and volunteers working with vulnerable populations have cleared a background check and gone through our Safe Sanctuary training.
Lent & Easter
Lent is a season of forty days, not including Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at Easter vigil. Lent comes from the Anglo-Saxon word lenten, which means “spring.” The season is a preparation for celebrating Easter. Historically, Lent began as a period of fasting and preparation for baptism by converts and then became a time for penance by all Christians.

Advent & Christmas
Advent marks the beginning of the church year. It begins with the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day. Advent comes from the Latin word, adventus, meaning “coming.” It is a season to prepare for the coming of Christ in various meanings: the promised coming of the Messiah to the Jews, the coming of Jesus being born in Bethlehem, the promised return of the risen Christ in final victory, and the continual coming of Christ into the lives and hearts of believers.
Advent is part of the cycle of seasons that includes Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany, all related in some fashion to the coming of Jesus. That cycle is followed by Lent, Holy Week, Easter, and the long Pentecost season.
